Mount Kilimanjaro, sometimes known as Kilimanjaro, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania that has three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. With a summit elevation of 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level and a height of roughly 4,900 metres (16,100 feet) from its plateau base, it is both the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world.

Kilimanjaro is also the planet’s fourth-most notable summit in terms of topography. Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller are the first people to be recorded as having ascended the mountain in 1889. The peak, which is a part of Kilimanjaro National Park, is a popular place for climbing. The mountain has been the focus of numerous scientific studies due to its melting glaciers and ice fields.
